Our lovely field
Our lovely field is a great resource for helping children to become very fit and agile. At break times they can run, jump and play. They experience first hand the different seasons, feel the wind in their hair, and watch spectacular skies.
Their sense of wonder about the natural world is nurtured as they can find and observe a caterpillar, worm or butterfly. Here they see ladybirds, spiders, birds and signs of busy moles!
We have a garden where children can dig and plant and enjoy pursuing their inborn interest in living things.
In warmer weather we have lunchtime picnics followed by games. Here are some of the children's thoughts that they have written themselves.
"The field is free.
I think the field is one of the seven wonders of the world.
I really like the field." Dominic Friedrich, age 6
"The field is a happy and loving place and all the children love it, and I do too! I love it because it is fun and big. I think the field is the best part of school. All the children have fun when its break, or lunch time.
The field has another field next door and some times horses lean over the fence and we feed them. The field may be fun but we still have rules though so everybody has lots and lots and lots of fun."
Isobella Renkin-Holloway, age 9
"I love the field where I can play. I like the apparatus and digging for pottery. I like the snow. I can build a snowman. On a windy day we fly the kite and I like skipping." Alessia, age 8
